Accusations of sexual assault and resulting trauma have dominated the news during the last few weeks. In its wake a much-needed public debate has ensued about how the memory works when one experiences a trauma.
There is great misunderstanding about trauma – especially about its lasting effects on children – and now is a good time to address it as the public health issue it is.
