Stoneleigh Fellow Danielle Sered’s program Common Justice has received the Award for Professional Innovation in Victim Services today at a ceremony held by the Office for Victims of Crime.
Sered received her award from Attorney General Eric Holder for her participatory justice project ‘Common Justice’, an alternative to incarceration for young people who commit violent crimes, and develops a consistent method of supporting the recovery of the harmed parties.
The award is given in memory of Susan Laurence, an OVC employee who helped professionals who had not traditionally served victims to develop effective victim responses. In her honor, this award recognizes a program, organization, or individual who has helped to expand the reach of victims’ rights and services.
