Andre Simms, Lead Youth Organizer with our partners at Youth Art & Self-Empowerment Project, spoke to the Delaware County Black Caucus about the importance of including young people in conversations about gun violence.
“In my 30 years, I haven’t seen the gun violence like it is now,” Darby Police Chief Joseph Gabe said. “We’re all concerned.”
On Saturday, the Delaware County Black Caucus held a forum called “Promoting Gun Safety, Reducing Gun Violence” at the Darby Recreation Center.
“Darby Borough, we are seeing an increase in gun violence, seeing more guns on the street,” Gabe said. “We are also seeing an uptick in younger people carrying firearms.”
