Former Stoneleigh Fellow Gregg Volz continues to build on the work he accomplished during his Fellowship to expand the youth court model across the Commonwealth.
Gregg was invited by PA State Senator Larry Farnese to testify at a PA Senate Democratic Policy Committee hearing focused on educating Committee members about the benefits of youth courts. During his remarks, Gregg noted that while the number of youth courts in Pennsylvania has grown in recent years, establishing and sustaining more programs will require additional funding.
The video below features Gregg’s testimony, the testimony of other youth court leaders, and a hearing in action. The Committee plans to draft a bill to create a statewide task force dedicated to investigating youth courts more thoroughly. The task force will issue a report with recommendations to the Pennsylvania General Assembly.
