Jordan Burton, MDiv

Capturing Healing Through Community Resilience

Jordan Burton will serve as an Emerging Leader Fellow at Kingsessing Heals Community Resilience Center. In this role, he will develop a comprehensive, culturally responsive evaluation framework for the organization’s Community Resilience Model, with the goal of measuring key mental wellness and healing indicators in Southwest Philadelphia.

Jordan is a preacher, writer, and theologian who explores the intersections of Black religion, critical theory, and public life. His perspective is informed by grassroots ministry, academic study, and a commitment to communal healing. He draws from a range of influences—from the landscape of sustainable farms fighting for food justice to the theoretical insights of the Black Radical Tradition—to reflect on spirit, memory, and meaning in a fractured world. He writes and preaches with a deep concern for how faith shapes identity, memory, and liberation in the lives of Black communities.

Jordan holds a bachelor’s degree in biblical and theological studies from Wheaton College and a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary.
