Aquilla Walker will serve as an Emerging Leader Fellow at The Nonprofit Center at La Salle University. In this role, she will engage and train young people and connect them with organizations in Northwest Philadelphia that are in need of youth gun violence prevention programming support.
Aquilla is a community-driven entrepreneur with experience in business development, community engagement, and nonprofit collaboration. She currently serves as the coordinator of the Tioga United Neighborhood Advisory Committee, where she provides residents with information, resources, and referrals for housing, community development, and quality-of-life issues. In addition, she has collaborated with the Nicetown Community Development Corporation and the P3 Program to support workforce development for young men ages 18-32. As the founder and owner of June’s Journey Painting, she has also established a community partnership with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society to support urban gardening and beautification initiatives.
Aquilla has completed postsecondary coursework at DeVry University, and she received entrepreneurship training at Drexel University’s Close School of Entrepreneurship.
