Andre Simms

Empowering Youth Organizing

Andre Simms will serve as a Stoneleigh Fellow with DayOneNotDayTwo. In this role, he will identify, recruit, and train cultural influencers—artists, writers, storytellers, and other leaders who are skilled in messaging, gathering followers, and developing community—to organize youth around civic issues that impact their lives.

Andre Simms is a seasoned organizer, artist, and strategist transforming systems through story and collective power. He is the Founder and Executive Director of DayOneNotDayTwo, where he developed flagship programs that equip youth with the tools to transform cultural paradigms and address systemic inequities and marginalization. Prior to this, he served as the Lead Youth Organizer at the Youth Art & Self-empowerment Project, where he partnered with former Stoneleigh Fellow Raj Jayadev to launch Delaware County’s first youth participatory defense hub.

Andre’s leadership has led him to play a crucial role in various local and national initiatives, such as: facilitating youth-led trainings for Philadelphia’s Public Defender Office, spearheading the Delaware County Youth Diversion Planning Committee, and organizing the Biden-Harris White House Interagency Youth Policy Summit.
