Sophia Hwang, MSEd

Trauma-Informed Training for Human Services

Sophia Hwang is a doctoral candidate in the Psychology and Social Intervention Program at New York University, Steinhardt School of Education, Culture, and Human Development. Her research interest lies at the intersection of urban education and mental health.

Previously, Sophia worked as a Research Manager at PolicyLab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she oversaw an education research portfolio involving public, nonprofit, and philanthropic stakeholders. During her Stoneleigh Emerging Leader Fellowship from 2010-2011, Sophia worked with Health Federation of Philadelphia to strengthen trauma-informed training for social workers and public service professionals in Philadelphia. She began her career with Teach for America as a high school science teacher in Philadelphia.

Sophia holds a BA in human biology from Stanford University and an MSEd from the University of Pennsylvania.
