Abigail Thibeault, JD
Preventing Youth from Obtaining Illegal Firearms
Abigail Thibeault currently serves as an Assistant Public Defender at the Maryland Office of the Public Defender where she advocates for indigent persons charged with felony and misdemeanor criminal offenses.
Abigail served as a Stoneleigh Emerging Leader Fellow at Ceasefire PA from 2015-2016, where she addressed the epidemic of youth violence in Philadelphia by researching how young people gain access to illegal guns. While completing her law degree, Abigail served as president of the Student Public Interest Network and as chair of the Family Law Society. She interned at the Support Center for Child Advocates, where she assisted with researching and writing petitions on behalf of clients. Through Temple Law’s Student Discipline Advocacy Service, she advocated on behalf of middle and high school students facing suspensions, disciplinary transfers, and expulsions in the School District of Philadelphia.
Abigail holds a BA in history from Davidson College and a JD from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law.
