‘Stop Snitching’ forum held
May 16, 2008
Emerging Leader Fellow Sam George gathered a number of Philadelphia decision-makers to address the ‘code of silence’ in the city. The event, held in the WHYY Civic Space, featured speakers from the Philadelphia Police Department, Office of the District Attorney, Office of the Mayor, and other members of the community. The lively discussion was moderated by Dorothy Johnson-Speight, founder and director of Mothers In Charge.
The forum was inspired by Sam George’s thesis on the same topic and marks the beginning of the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania’s (UWSEPA) effort to improve communication between Philadelphia residents and law enforcement officers.
