Responding to gun violence in Philadelphia & Wilmington

August 24, 2012

Stoneleigh Fellow Ted Corbin discusses violence prevention solutions with Marty Moss-Coane on WHYY Radio Times.

To close out Radio Times’ series on gun violence in Philadelphia this summer, we welcome two leaders working toward solutions in hospital-based violence-reduction programs. Marla Davis Bellamy, JD, MGA director of Philadelphia CeaseFire and the Center for Bioethics, Urban Health and Policy at Temple Medical School, leads a program combining analysis of public health statistics with active intervention from community members targeting people and places most at-risk for gun violence. And Ted Corbin, MD, MPP, who is an assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Drexel University College of Medicine and is medical director of the “Healing Hurt People” program, an emergency department based trauma-informed intervention strategy that identifies victims of intentional injury.
