Board Member and former Stoneleigh Fellow Kevin Bethel appeared on Flashpoint with Cherri Gregg to discuss his vision for dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline.

The big story of the week was the appointment of Danielle Outlaw as Philadelphia’s police commissioner. She is the first Black woman to fill the role, but she joins Black women in other key criminal justice positions…

The newsmaker of the week is Kevin Bethel, the new special adviser on public safety for the Philadelphia School District. Bethel is a former deputy commissioner for the Philadelphia Police Department. During his time there, he rolled out juvenile justice reforms that significantly decreased the number of in school arrests of children. He discusses his vision for busting the school to prison pipeline for good.
