Henry (Hank) B. Bernstein joined The Pew Charitable Trusts in 1991, serving the organization in a succession of increasingly responsible roles, including Grants Manager, Manager of Grants Financial Operations and Tax Planning, Chief Financial Officer, and Senior Vice President of Finance & Treasurer. Until his retirement from Pew in 2015, Hank as SVP was a member of the senior management team and, as Treasurer, staffed the Finance and Audit Committees of the Board of Directors.
Prior to his career at Pew, Hank worked as an auditor in public accounting and served for 10 years as a health care consultant at Laventhol & Horwath, a national accounting firm. In addition, Hank has more than three decades of experience serving on the boards and finance committees of several nonprofit organizations, including the Eromin Center, ActionAIDS, Inc., Volunteer Action Center, Delaware Valley Legacy Fund, The Pew Research Center, and Congregation Rodeph Shalom.
A certified public accountant, Hank holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and accounting from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
