David Haas is a Philadelphia-based philanthropist with a longtime interest in public media and journalism, among other key areas. He is Vice Chair of the board of the Wyncote Foundation and has served on the board of the William Penn Foundation since 1982, including as Board Chair from 1993-2014 for all but four of those years. The William Penn Foundation focuses its grant making in the Greater Philadelphia region, and is currently among the 40 largest foundations in the United States.

In addition, David has served on the board of Media Impact Funders since 1994, including as Board Chair from 2002-2015, and is a board member of the Lenfest Institute for Journalism, created in 2016 by philanthropist Gerry Lenfest with the donation of the Philadelphia Media Network. He has served as a Trustee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art since 2004.
