Carol Emig is the President of Child Trends, the nation’s leading nonprofit research organization focused exclusively on improving the lives and prospects of children, youth, and their families. Under Carol’s leadership, Child Trends has expanded its capacity to communicate research effectively, grown its evaluation practice, expanded its work in child welfare, and launched the Child Trends Hispanic Institute. She also initiated the organization’s efforts to ensure that racial equity considerations are consistently and thoughtfully included in research on children and youth.
Carol’s past experiences include Executive Director of the Pew Commission on Children in Foster Care, Vice President for external relations at Child Trends, and Deputy Director of the National Commission on Children. She serves on the board of Raising a Reader and is an adviser to the board of Venture Philanthropy Partners.
Carol holds a bachelor’s in international relations from Georgetown University and a master’s in public policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
