Ms. Dougherty has been a staff attorney at the Support Center for Child Advocates (Child Advocates), since 2001, providing direct representation to children in civil dependency and criminal abuse cases, technical support and training to volunteer attorneys. For the past five years, Ms. Dougherty has coordinated Child Advocates' project for children with complex medical needs, through legal representation and collaboration with medical professionals, social service providers, and other advocates for children.

Ms. Dougherty has trained child welfare professionals both locally and nationally in child advocacy, child abuse and neglect law, and the representation of children. She presented at the National Association of Counsel for Children 2005 Conference on the topic, "Litigating a Complex Medically Needy Case." Before joining Child Advocates, she was the coordinating attorney for a special initiative focusing on homeless children with the Homeless Advocacy Project. Ms. Dougherty is a 1996 graduate of Temple University School of Law and has her Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Joseph's University.
