Roy Wade Jr., MD, PhD, MPH

Measuring and Responding to Childhood Adversity

Roy Wade, Jr. is currently a Leonard Davis Institute Senior Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia (CHOP), and a general pediatrician at CHOP’s Cobbs Creek Primary Care.

Throughout his career, Roy has worked to improve health outcomes for at-risk populations, with a particular focus on the role of social determinants in the persistence of health disparities. He completed a Commonwealth Fund Harvard Minority Health Policy Fellowship at the Harvard School of Medicine and Harvard School of Public Health and a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Clinical Scholars Fellowship at the Perelman School of Medicine. Building on the landmark Adverse Childhood Experiences Study, his work as an RWJF Scholar examined the adverse experiences of young adults in economically distressed neighborhoods in Philadelphia.

Roy holds a BA in biology from Georgia Institute of Technology, an MD from Dartmouth Medical School, an MPH in health policy and management from Harvard University, and a PhD in Molecular Microbiology from Georgia Institute of Technology.
