Leslie Acoca and Stoneleigh Featured in December 8 Webinar: Addressing the Health Care Needs of Girls in the Juvenile Justice System
Grantmakers for Children, Youth and Families is featuring Stoneleigh Fellow Leslie Acoca during a webinar entitled Addressing the Health Care Needs of Girls in the Juvenile Justice System on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM. Click here to learn more and to register for the webinar.
Leslie will discuss her work on the National Girls Health Screen Project. This three-phase, collaborative, cross-system project seeks to address the health care needs of girls aged 10-17 who have been detained. A majority of girls in this population suffer from one or more serious health or mental health problems, but appropriate services designed to meet their needs are lacking.
Cathy Weiss, executive director, and Julia Boerth, program officer, will also speak on the strategies that Stoneleigh Foundation is using to support innovative projects like the National Girls Health Screen and other projects that unite research, policy and practice.
