Leslie Acoca and NGHJI Extend Girls Health Screen to Los Angeles County

Executive Director of the National Girls Health and Justice Institute and former Stoneleigh fellow Leslie Acoca announced that the Girls Health Screen (GHS) in the Los Angeles Girls Camps is available as of today.

The launch and training were done in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Departments of Health, Probation and Information Technology. In the future, every girl entering the Camps will take the GHS immediately. Her answers will guide her subsequent medical assessment, treatment and aftercare and contribute to a database on the health needs of girls. The GHS has started in paper form which will, once completed by the girls, be scanned into the existing County electronic health record. However, the GHS will quickly graduate to become a standarized part of the County electronic health record.
