US Representative Joe Kennedy III, grandson of the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy, honored advocates for at-risk kids and families at an event at the JFK Presidential Library Friday. Recipients of the Embracing the Legacy Awards, created by the Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps, included Roy Wade Jr., instructor of pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; former Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield, honorary chairman of the Red Sox Foundation; the United Teen Equality Center serving kids in Lowell and Lawrence; and, posthumously, Theodore Oatis, cofounder of the Chiofaro Co.
