Congratulations to our 2015 - 2016 Emerging Leader Fellows

This summer, Stoneleigh said goodbye to its 2015-2016 Emerging Leader Fellows as they concluded their Fellowships and launched the next stage of their careers.
Roger Chu Picture for Vertical Response.150pxby150px Roger Chu worked with Research for Action to study the extent to which juvenile justice facilities make quality career and technical educational experiences available to youth.  Based on the success of his Fellowship, he was hired by Research for Action as a research analyst and will continue to work on education issues for youth in the juvenile justice system.
Katie Picture for web 2 Katie Feeley worked with HIAS PA to address the legal needs of Pennsylvania's unaccompanied immigrant children, who are often denied access to essential services due to their unresolved legal status.  She will build her expertise in immigration issues through a federal clerkship at the US Immigration Court in North Carolina.
Abigail Picture Abigail Thibeault worked with CeaseFire PA to identify practices and polices to prevent youth from illegally obtaining guns, with a particular focus on Philadelphia's 22nd Police District.  She will continue her career in law as a staff attorney at the Maryland Office of the Public Defender.
Ashley photo web Ashley Sawyer worked with Education Law Center to improve education for young people involved-or at risk of becoming involved-in the juvenile justice system.  She will grow her legal advocacy skills as a staff attorney at Youth Represent in New York City.

On August 2, the Stoneleigh Foundation hosted an event to celebrate the work of this year’s Emerging Leaders, which was attended by nearly 60 of their colleagues and City leaders.  The Fellows delivered compelling presentations outlining their findings and recommendations and participated in a lively panel discussion moderated by Visiting Fellow Bob Schwartz.
